Job Posting: Medical Assistant (MA)

Department: Clinic Nursing
Reports To: Clinic Administrator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Clinic Nursing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for obtaining vital signs, assisting with procedures, documenting patient information, and providing support to healthcare providers.

Hours: M-F 8am-5pm; 40 hours a week

Qualifications:

Competency in medical terminology.
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality in communications.
Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding protected health information (PHI).
Proficiency in clinical skills and use of medical equipment.
Familiarity with Infection Control and Prevention practices.
Understanding of licensing requirements, nursing practice act, statutes, and rules if applicable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Obtain vital signs for each patient.
Document reasons for visits and provide assistance during procedures.
Instruct patients per provider directions and document all teaching/counseling.
Assist with completing necessary documentation and updating patient records.
Schedule specialist appointments and obtain insurance clearances.
Provide respectful care to patients and their families.
Address psychosocial, cultural, and religious/spiritual needs.
Record all ordered lab, x-ray, and referrals in the EMR.
Assist in emergency situations and perform screenings as required.
Manage clinic inventory and perform necessary lab work.
Advocate for patient needs and maintain accurate documentation.
Attend departmental meetings and maintain certifications.

Education and/or Experience:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
Current MA certificate.
One (1) year of clinical practice preferred.

Work Environment:

Ability to stand, walk, sit, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.

Will perform additional duties as requested by the Nurse Practitioner or Administrator.
Flexibility to perform multiple duties as required.
